Rhyddings Park
With all the talk about the Park on here recently can anybody remember the lad who was one of the full time gardeners in the 50s, can't remember his name, but he started work their after leaving Rhyddings school I think. He then won a scholarship and went to work at Kew Gardens in London, he was a stocky lad with tight curly hair

Re: Rhyddings Park
I lived on Hornby St from birth (1942) until 1961.
I spent a good deal of my childhood and adolescence in the park. The only park-keeper I remember was a chap named Roland Hull. He was short and stocky, walked with a limp, and had straight short blond hair. He was aged about mid 20s during the mid 50s. I remember him well because there was a bit of scandal about him. A girl in her late teens, bank managers daughter, lived on Park Lane, had a relationship with him and ended up marrying him, - don't think her dad was well pleased  |

Re: Rhyddings Park
If any mums are looking for something to do this afternoon - I'll be in Rhyddings Park with an artist and we'll be inviting young people to help us make a sculpture for the park. We'll be using twigs found in and around the park to make the sculpture but we'll need some help.
