The Accrington Michael Jackson

Don't know if you know this guy, or if he is classed as a "famous" person (if deemed not, admins, do you want to move this thread?) but I think he's a bit of a legend.
He used to dance outside McDonalds and I did a student documentary on him in the mid 90's.

It's on YouTube at this address. I know it's crap, but if it brings back some memories (it was filmed whilst they were pedestrianising the town centre) have a look.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Not seen him in ages; last I heard he had moved to Blackburn, he is not as deluded as he looks and was sorting his life out last time I spoke to him, he was doing some office work on some scheme or other, Michael was a one of life's casualties in a lot of ways but was never down. He was definitely special needs but was being looked after by the right people.
Hope he is well.
(we once took him out to see a live band and bought him a few beers; that night is forever ingrained on my memory!):theband:

Oh. He was a lovely lad and I didn't make the film to take the p**s, I was genuinely interested in what made him tick...but as you can see my "film making" skills left a lot to be desired.

I can confirm he is living in Blackburn and has had his ups and downs over past few years. During his bad times I have been called on to help out...but he is still mad as ever about Michael Jackson and has a couple of life size cut outs of him at home and must be hundreds of DVD's.

Next time I see him I will tell him there have been kind words been said about him... that will prob make his day... but I may never hear the last of it though

Must admit I've never seen him before.

One thing that struck me about the film, though...if that had been Manchester, a large crowd would have gathered to watch. In Accy, the vast majority of people just walked past, seemingly oblivious to it all!
