Robert Holt
Accrington Jubilee Souvenir 1878 to 1928, page 89 says that the town possessed a Subscription Library "afterwards transferred to Mr Holt's, Abbey Street". On his removal it was located above his shop at 31 Blackburn Road. This was later handed over as a gift to what eventually became the Accrington Mechanics' Institution. Does this mean that Mr Holt handed it over or someone else? Marie Ball

Re: Robert Holt
Many thanks, Retlaw. I did mean was it the books that were handed over. I didn't phrase it carefully enough. But the book put the action so carefully in the passive I wasn't sure if Robert Holt handed over the books or someone else. William Saul married Ellen Holt, Jane and Robert's only child. I have a cousin in America interested in Robert Holt because he invested funds for some relatives and looked after their money, bye Marie Ball
