Seems to be the same for netscape 8 as well. I use btyahoo because of the parental controls are easy to use as well as control over email as this has controls as well. My 9 yearold daughter cannot change any of it as I am the primary account and it is password protected.

Depending on how many websites your children actualy visit.. you could use a workaround..
It's very messy, and isn't ion the slightest bit helpfull unless your kids only visit like 5 websites..

But.. if you go to tools > options > connection settings
Enter a random IP for a proxy, so that no websites will work.
Then under 'no proxy for' enter the websites which you want to allow.

As I say, very bad and messy :)

Parental controls aren't built into browsers. They are add on packages that sit between the browser and the big bad world. There are free ones about but teh best is simple, free and fun. Sit with your kids whilst they are on the net! Or if you are prepared to give them some freedom warn them that you will be checking logs as to where they have been(make sure you enable logging on MSN Messenger. If the logs are cleared you will withdraw PC access for a month.

If you have a network you could run a proxy on your main PC(i.e. not the kids one) and make their connection through your proxy. Even if they clear their logs you will still have a full set :)

But if you have a router can't you check on there instead?

I know not everyone has a router, but I am asking for purely selfish reasons!!!

Re: Mozilla parental controls

Yes you can but you probably need to configure it to log them. YOu also need to be aware that stuff like MSN messenger conversations won't show up as they tend to log HTTP traffic(Which IM isn't)

Unless you force your kids to use webmessenger.msn.com ;)

Re: Mozilla parental controls

My router's last digit is a 1, the main pc is 2, the laptop is 3 and my kid's computer (when it gets added to the network) I expect will be a 4, so no configuration required.

That said, there is always someone with him when he is on the net, so logging probably not required at present

Re: Mozilla parental controls

What I meant was that the router may not log http requests by default. You may have to turn it on.

And as a devious kid I would have found lots of ways round it :) Jabber anyone?
