Re: WARNING !!!! Emails From Banks scam!!!

Ok so most people know these emails are scams and delete them so :

1/ If someone sends you an email we assume its a scam if it asks for details. However these are pretty old hat now and most people are aware. I expect that a new wave of scams will be out soon, where rather than instantly asking for details they`ll try to get other details to help with identity theft (maybe something like a false facebook link ?)

2/ If someone rings up saying they are from your bank with enough details would you believe them ? What if they claimed to be from the water company requiring payment for a bill ?

3/ What if a letter came through your door asking you to ring "customer services" and was from your bank ? Would you and happily discuss details ?

I think with identity theft massively rising and people becoming aware of the current scams, these people will find other ways to try and rip us off. They basically prey on two factors, greed and a lack of vigilance by their victims. And currently we seem to be in a wave of the second of these rather than the greed of the 419s.

Re: WARNING !!!! Emails From Banks scam!!!

I’ve had a few of these mails in the past from banks that I don’t bank with. In each instance I have went to the legitimate site of the bank concerned and forwarded the mail to them to deal with. Most banks have department for dealing with suspected fraud e-mail. I forward it to them then just delete the damned things.

Counter staff just may not be aware that it is important that the bank be informed of these things.
