Payment for Posting

Facebook, but fairer? New social site Chime.in pays you money for posts | Mail Online

There's a new Social Networking site called Chime,in which will be paying have the advertising few to any ad that appears next to your posts on the site, if you sell the space direst to a company then you get the whole fee. Do you think this will take of and will it hurt the likes of Facebook and Myspace

It will probably get full of drivel postings by people who will treat doing that as an 'earner'.

Now I come to think of it - some people do that here to gain prestige/rep power with a large post count.

It's the sort of thing that on paper sounds like a good idea.

But because the existing social network sites are already so established, and well used, I think it has very little chance of taking off.

If you could, who would prefer to sponsor your posts on Accy Web?

(This post was brought to you by Cillit Bang.)

Eric could be sponsored by Canadian Pacific.
Mobertol by Luigis Italian Restaurant.

Yes, but really it was the first of it's kind, and now dominates.

It's like a new search engine, trying to challenge Google.

There's a chance people may give it preference, but it's slim.

If people started deserting Facebook for the new site, all they have to do is offer the same deal.

The challenger hasn't a unique selling point...that can't be copied.

It's unlikely, but it has happened. I remember when Yahoo and Lycos ruled the search engine roost. Google innovated and kicked them into touch.
