Re: Church Traffic Lights

Creating more off road parking was a general comment not specific to union road, there are far worse roads than that, look at Blackburn road at West End its now just like a single track road with cars parked on both sides of the road

Re: Church Traffic Lights

I think they want to make parts of Blackburn Road at West End no parking as well - what the residents are supposed to do with their cars is any ones guess

That problem is that the powers that be at County Hall get these brain waves (and I use brain in very loose terms) and they just plough on regardless, its always the case "We know Best and you'll do as you're told". The only thing is the people putting these schemes forward are never affected by the implementation, things like parking in front of homes or local shop doesn't disrupt their lives at all, so why should they bother

May be LCC and its rapid transport plan should be forced in to providing off road parking in that situation, that is if they want to do away with the parking bays for their bus lane.

Re: Church Traffic Lights

So as most of the properties on B'burn Road, West End have front gardens why don't LCC pay to convert those into a bay for each house? Or even the back yard/garden? I know some will say that's not fair but it is a solution of sorts.
I may be wrong but won't people's insurance go down if they have off-road parking?

Good thinking churchman phil, I think you could be correct about insurance going down if their car is not parked on the road.

I recall reading about some proposal to restrict paving or concreting over gardens because it causes more rainwater to go into drains and so increases risk of flooding

Were the two roundabouts not part of the Pennine Reach proposal Phil ?

Don't know whether has been taken out separately ?

Would you have thought it such a good idea if I had suggested taking away the garden fronts from the houses on park lane so the road would be wide enough for the cars to park when you lived here?
