Re: New Estate
Has anyone seen any signs of life on that estate yet? Remember the bets earlier on this year? I wonder if we'll be getting any Kosovan asylum seekers in there?

Not yet, but they are not too happy about the travellers caravans parked all the way up the drive.

Re: New Estate
I've somehow missed most of this thread, a lot was posted whilst I was on holiday and the rest just managed to escape me.
I've noticed that the site is referred to as Greenfield Meadows which is interesting considering it was a lodge. Pity they didn't think to keep that name instead of going for Spinners Court. Anybody know the origins of the name Greenfield Meadows? |
Re: New Estate
Where is the reference Willow?

Bottom right hand corner of the above page. It says: This site plan is only a guide to the development planned at Greenfield Meadows. |
Re: New Estate
Hmm, I wouldn't pay too much attention to that, Willow. It is merely marketing drivel. They will use any association to peddle their products. Canturbury and Ludlow are percieved as nice places to live, thus it follows that if they call their shoddy buildings after these places then people will automatically equate the qualities of living in either of these two places with the slice of terraced house they are being asked to fork out £140,000 for.
The area in question has, for centuries, been known as Alleytroyds (sometimes spelt Alleytroids) and the adjacent land to the east as Lower Antley after Lower Antley Hall. There is no historical association with any thing called Greenfield Meadows. |
Re: New Estate
Yes well I know the name Alleytroyds and in fact the houses which were newly built before this development to replace those demolished at the bottom of Market St are known by that name. I just wondered where the Greenfield Meadows name came from and why on earth if they've already got that name have they called this new development "Spinners Court".

Re: New Estate
Those estates are separate. One is Spinners Walk, the other Spinners Court.
They do not even meet. |
Re: New Estate
So there isn't confusion the streets within Spinners Walk and Spinners Court do have names so there won't be an issue with local services i.e. fire, ambulance, getting confused.
|
Re: New Estate
errrrrrrrrrrrrr yes gail there is as we dont seem to get info on new sites until we have to go to them.
|
Re: New Estate
Well that's a failure in communication, it's not a confusion about the actual street names.
|
Re: New Estate
After all the sniping, I hope this isn't where A-b moved to recently.
