Grates
 
No great landmark, but special to me. Used to jump over the steam coming out of the grate on Queens Road outside the mill on Friday night, when the boilers were packing up for the weekend I suspect. Must have been happening all over Accrington.

Queens road always seem to have big puddles & overfilled grates - many o'time been drenched by cars whilst walking home from school tho i think the mill was before my time

you mean the mill that is now taskers? finishes opposite top of annie street were the ginnel up to the cub hut used to be, (don't remember it)lol;)

Yes, by golly, he's got it !! But grate was top of William Street, Hey you went in the St. John's Scout hut ? Spent many hours in it ... and behind it :-)

What are you suggesting ?:rolleyes: Me too !! Me mum worked at Queen's Mill for a while, can still smell the cotton fibres when I think of it. Got up yer nose though.
