Anti aircraft guns
Does anybody recall any of the Anti aircraft guns that where dotted around Accrington during the war? I seem to remember the remnants of something at the top of Peel Park avenue, concrete slabs and a small building type thing. Also a large one near gamblers caves (still there I think) and one near the swing bridge behind Jacksons farm. I bet theres no photos existing!

I remember as a lad there were some sort of gun frames on top of the Coppice.

Re: Anti aircraft guns
The building near the gambling caves housed generators in one part and sleeping accomodation in the other, there was a blast wall in front of the entrance. It was created as a diversion when in use, to make jerry think they were near Manchester. We weren't allowed near it during the war, only the local farmers were allowed access to the land. Tom Kane was one of the local farmers, Tom Kemp was another.
