old mineworkings

Has anyone found a map of old mineworkings in Hyndburn?
The Red Walls mine was very near where I live and I have been told that there won't be any more building nearby because of the old mineworkings.
Apart from the risk of the building disappearing into a big hole, I am wondering about 'geopathic stress' which can cause sick building syndrome and affect the health of residents.

Margaret.
I've already posted on another thread about mine workings, I remember seeing some old maps of the pits in this area, in Accy Library some years back. They might be in storage until they get the archive room repaired.
Dry rot in the roof, now in the walls, English Heritage has their nose in it, so could take years.

I thought LCC owned the Library, I would have thought they would sort out the problems you mention.

They are talking about Accy library. I am only interested in watching the games unfold in Ossy ;)

Then again why are the records of the mines in Ossy not in our library in Ossy?

Because they were GIVEN to Accrington CENTRAL Library, some years ago.
Why should old documents be split up and distributed amongst little libraries, you might as well go to the Public Record Office in Bow Lane Preston, and demand all the stuff relating to Ossy be returned.

The plans in Accy Library show the old coal workings centered on the Accrington area, which also show the Huncote workings, if they show Ossy workings, are they supposed to cut that bit off the plans, just to suit the few people in Ossy, who may want to see their bit, or should they be left intact for every one.
