Couldn't resist. Looked on Ancestry. There's a medal card for Hermon P. Hodgkinson showing both E. Lan. R. Pte 37775 and N. Staffs R. 43340. There's also a North Staffs Regiment Roll for Hermon Pearce Hodgkinson showing the same two regimental numbers. No service or pension records found though.

North Staffs Medal Roll shows 1st Garrison Battalion but only regimental number shown for East Lancs so can't help there.

Walter, can you please assist with the following:
Private William Stuttard 24040 Royal Lancasters
Private William Stuttard 242116 East Lancashire Regiment.
I can find no further information on either.

Re: World War 1

Can I add Private H Stuttard 1653 East Lancashire Regiment to the above query?

Private William Stuttard 24040 Royal Lancasters
I do not have any information on these men they are not Greater Accrington Men.

From the East Lancs Records the two men below both served in the 1/5th East Lancs.
Have you tried the Burnley Web site they may have come from there
Private William Stuttard 242116 East Lancs.
Private H. Stuttard 1653 East Lancs.

I have found a box of photos of WW1 servicemen in a cupboard at Green Haworth School (St Clement's Church). Many have names, but 6 have no attribution. Anyone have any idea who the unknown ones are? I am taking copies to the Heritage Centre in the Arndale.

Here they are:

Hi Walter,
Do you have any info on a Thomas James Lingard of the East Lancs?
He was the brother of my Gt Grandad. It says on a Pals website that he was born in 1895 but really he was born in 1898 so must have lied about his age in order to sign-up.
Thanks,
Steve
