No, Joaner .. Woolies was originally between Dutton Street and Church Street on Blackburn Road. This was known as Piccadilly in years gone by. Yer' too young ... LOL.

This is just "by the by" and please do correct me if I am wrong Katex, but I honestly thought the block of buildings from Dutton Street to St James Street was known as Piccadilly, NOT the block from Dutton Street to Church Street. I could be wrong though????

Here is a lovely photo of the old Woolworths store, on the corner of Dutton Street and Blackburn Road.

Joaner, going back to the days when that part of Blackburn Rd was called Piccadilly, there was NO Broadway, and it did'nt join up with Whalley Rd.
What bit there was, was called Marquis St.
Where Wollies was on Broadway, was unused land surrounded by an old wooden fence and the river stink was open, not culverted like today.

Re-checked old maps Atarah .. yes, you are, of course, correct. Me, trying to be too clever. Did actually know what replaced that block though.
