What was it called in 1914, there was a big sign on it.
That picture I put up was 1920, when it was put up for sale.

Thwaites's Brewery ... they owned the Railway and will have records ... looks like they don't know either as no reponse yet ...think will resort to blackmail it they don't reply .. good story for LET .. 'Non Caring Brewery' in local interest/history of their properties from the people who have supported their beer all these years, etc... guess would be frontpage :D

They have no records actually .. probably because the deeds are now in the hands of the new Landlord (or mortgage provider) They sent me a lovely reply, but think I deleted their first answer thinking it was spam (just to put right the above remark).

Humph .. how many of his bacardi/cokes will I have to buy at the Railway to persuade the landlord to look these up for me... http://planetsmilies.net/eat-drink-smiley-5163.gif

This question is now over 3 threads .. no wonder Bagpuss is confused.

Deeds on paper are usually held by the solicitor or the mortgage Comp.
Most transactions are now recorded at the Land Registry, very few will show the orignial name or owner, especially back in 1830/40's.

I know of several old properties in Acc that have no deeds to their property prior to 1840, land yes, but buildings no. Land was worth more then, than stones and mortar.

In defence, above was confusing .. you said 'a sign' .. if you had said 'the wording on this sign' .. would have been clearer .....:p

Never mind excuses and trying to get the last word in, a sign is a sign, whether it be words or pictures, it conveys a message.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
