st josephs catholic church accrington

I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding st josephs church on balgarth road. Things like year of construction features of note etc.

Any kind of information would be gladly received with thanks.

I tried to research it myself (info for personal interest only) but didnt even know where to start so my wife suggested I ask you good folk.

thanks

The Local Studies section in the library will have some infomation - I seem to recall that many of the parishioners were involved in the actual building of the church.

There is an article on the Haslingden Old and New web site which shows an old bank (Martins) on the corner of Regent Street and Blackburn Road being demolished and the stone being used to build St Joseph's church. Here's a link to the article Haslingden Old and New...: Where did Haslingden folk save their brass?
