Petrol Station fire

I was told there was a fire at a petrol station garage around 1934 in or around the Church area.
Does anyone know anymore on this.
Apparently my father was a local hero in this.

If anybody knows Retlaw will.
Not only is he a retired fireman, he has the memory of an elephant and will tell you all about the incident in detail (probably). :D

Thanks for the replies,
My mother had a newspaper cutting of the incident but it got lost or burnt as they had a house fire. My father had no fingerprints as they were burnt off in the garage fire.

Are you local?
You will of course be able to get a copy from Accrington's library. If you can't get to town, but know the exact date of the newspaper article, I can pop in and get a copy done for you.

Sorry to disappoint every one on this, but back in those days Church had its own fire brigade, there is nothing in Accrington's records to show any attendance from Acc.
The records for Church fire brigade have not survived. Best place is Accrington Library and look in the Accy Observer or the Accy Gazette.
