CAVE UNDER ORMEROD.St 60s-70s..

Groove was reading a thread when a poster (DOUG) mentioned a cave being found under ormerod.st. Groove finds this fascinating and wonders if any members could shed some light on this...regards Groove

Groove thanks Bee for his mature input. Groove thinks if Bee has nowt constructive to add to this thread then he should refrain from commenting...interesting you call me a child then post one of the most childish comments on here. Groove thinks Bee is a buffoon, posting just to pacify his Accyweb cronies....Groove feels he didnt deserve such a response.

Re: CAVE UNDER ORMEROD.St 60s-70s..

And on what basis would you centre your campaign to ban Groove? Because Grooves, different, has his own views etc...or are you just trying to get pally with the clique on here? Bee you really are a pathetic individual and you have Grrove's sympathy.

No, I'm sure we'd all agree that sad honour would go to you.

When you posted in General Chat, the section for 'decent, serious discussion', what we hope was a joke, about yourself defacating in a local public park.

Its actually an underground Groove & its got a Bee in it, you can sometimes hear it buzzing.
Rimski Corsikove heard it & wrote the music to Flight of the Bumble Bee.

Doug was refering to when a hole appeared in the street.

No Wookey Hole style magnificant cavern.

Doug was refering to a hole in the street, that suddenly appeared overnight.

Nothing spiritual, or holy about it.

Just a hole.

Quite a common occcurence, round these here parts. Oils in t'road.

Even those Liverpudlian mop tops knew about 'em.

Though there was probably some mad ol' nutter back in the sixties, who thought it was created by an act of divine intervention, and it wasn't just a hole in Ormerod Street, caused by a collapsed drain, but it was in fact the gateway to some firey, hellish underworld.
:dflam:

Not related to underground caves , but this is about the underground at the bottom of Crosland St . It's been railed off and out of use for a few years , but it's actually being filled in now.

The cycle path from Accy railway station to Ossie and Church station ends at the bottom of Crosland St until the work is finished . There is no exit just now at Crosland St either . So it's about-turn if you decide to use the path . I don't know when the work will be finished .

The underground was a good short cut at one time , and as kids we used to hang around just to be in it when a train rumbled over the top .

It wasn't Cave, it was a cave in. One evening a big hole appeared in the middle of the street about 68/69. There are numerous shafts and tunnels running all over below Accrington and much of the surrounding district or so I'm told. Could be an good area for discussion or research.

I knew it was a cave in, my old mucker. I understood you perfectly.

I remember that hole.

It's where I shot out of my mum, and hit the cobbles, with a ten pound thud, as she was hurrying down Ormerod Street, trying to get to the maternity ward.

A slight deviation, but the thread reminded of a sink hole in the news last year in Guatamala. See images here (it's number 3). Those are formed by natural geology rather than mine shafts/tunnels etc. I'm not saying that we have sink holes in Accrington before anyone pipes up.
