Baxenden Liberal Club
 
Can anyone tell me where this was situated and when it was demolished?

It was on Manchester Rd, left hand side going up, close to Rock St. It had gone by 1950 as a club

I can vaguely remember the site was a disused petrol station when I moved up in 78.now got a couple of semis on there

In the 50s, it was a car tyre depot.

Thanks for the replies. I have had a reply from John Simpson at Accrington Library which states it had stopped being a liberal club in the later 1930's.

I also remember it as a petrol station when we came to live in Baxenden.

A closure such as this should be in 'Lanham's Chronology' - a book compiled by Rev Lanham of St Andrew's which lists events as reported in the Observer. Covers 1923-74 I think. I cannot find my copy.
