I'll treat that as a twitty remark ( hidden pun) I came away disappointed that I hadn't enough time to get Lancashire mentions in, though I did slip in that there was only one town in the world called Accrington. Too much was spent on reviewing the papers. I was given 6 papers to look at. The Guardian was one of them, but not the Daily Telegraph. The best headline I found was in The Guardian - ' Workers Earn Peanuts from Unfair Trade in Cashews'. |

Re: Lancashire Day
The Hyndburn Mayor's Charity Committee organised a Lancashire Night at Accrington Town Hall on Friday 22nd November. Over 150 people attended, including the Chairman of Friends of Real Lancashire. Entertainment was provided by The Phil Knight Experience and Les Bond and there was a pie and peas supper. As Mayor I attended another Lancashire Night on Saturday 23rd at Bank Mill House, Great Harwood. Entertainment was provided by Dylan Owen and friends. On Lancashire Day I attended the two Hyndburn Proclamations with Great Harwood's Town Crier - Accrington Town Hall at 10 a.m. and Churchfield House, Great Harwood at 11 a.m. I wore full ceremonial robes and was interviewed by Radio Lancashire. On Thursday 28th November there was an excellent Lancashire Day exhibition at Rishton Library. So on the whole I think we raised the profile of Lancashire Day in Hyndburn this year!
