Confession - I didn't get it all by myself. I worked out the fact that the 'claimed highest rank' meant something outside of football, so when I asked Chris I phrased it differently. Then with your clue of D and I, he said, wasn't David Icke a footballer? So, team work. Good question though.

Erm, only other references that I can find are either 'pomegranates' or 'youth'.

Phylum 26-02-2006 14:06

Re: Granny's Quiz Wish Granted

The Golden apple is an element that appears in some countries' legends or fairy tales. Usually, a hero (like Hercules or Prince Charming in Eastern countries legends) has to retrieve the golden apples hidden or stolen by a negative character like a zmeu, dragon or monster. In several non-English languages, the word for "orange" is derived from the phrase "golden apple."

Greek Mythology

The above is why I orignally posted 'Orange'. Taken from Answers.com

Gayle 26-02-2006 14:08

Re: Granny's Quiz Wish Granted

That's what I thought too Phylum but my pages on Greek mythology say that the golden apples were symbolic of immortality and ever lasting youth - so they are still actually apples.
