Accrington Web - Dan Wheldon

Dan Wheldon aged 33 was apparently tragically killed yesterday in a road accident, leaving a wife and two young sons.

A sad story of a loving father who had just dropped his wife off at the shopping centre, or the boys at school perhaps?

Well no. He died in a major pile up on a private racetrack, where safety concerns had long since been raised, with more cars on the track than was recommended by safety experts, and for what reason? So he could make a death defying attempt at a multi million pound prize by forcing his way from last place to first at 200mph+ against all odds.

So where is the tragedy here? In his death? Or in the fact that such a selfish prat had persuaded some poor deluded female to plan a life wtih him and have his children, only for it all to go up in a completely predictable ball of flames?

Maybe I'm just too cynical!
