Tess of the D'urbervilles

Anybody watch Tess of the D'urbervilles on beeb 1 Sunday night? I'm not usually a fan of period drama, but quite liked this offering, only watched it because the other half was keen, but was pleasantly surprised after watching

Not a fan of Thomas Hardy; hated the book. Classic my eye. I'll give the programme a go. Hope it's on catch-up TV.

I watched it because I thought it was the Thomas Hardy book I'd done at O'level - I couldn't understand why it didn't tie in with my memories of the plot. Then I remembered, I did Far from the madding crowd for O'level and not Tess. I started enjoying it at that point!!!

I thought it was good, very slow moving, but I still prefer Jane Austen. I'll be watching next week though.
