Is Deirdre Turning Into Phyllis?
 

Corrie fans, I know Deirdre Barlow has always had a deep voice but have you noticed it's getting deeper? Do you remember Phyllis Pearce, she of the blue-rinsed perm? Her throaty cries of, "Cum 'ere, Percy", are unforgettable but Deirdre's dulcet tones are heading the same way, fast. She now has a deeper voice than most of the male actors in the Soap. Do you think her hair will soon be a fetching shade of violet? ;)

It's the smoking West Ender ... am going that way myself unfortunately,and comment regularly that I sound more like Dierdre everyday. She is a heavy smoker, (as I am), also she has had a form of lympho cancer ... not sure whether this has affected it or not.
Used to be a high soprano, but can't sing a note a above a G now. :(

My godmother always had a husky voice like Glynis Johns.
She smoked all her adult life and lasted to her 90s

My partner refurbished a pub in Basingstoke back in the early nineties. She was called in to cut the ribbon on opening night. He rang me on the opening night to ask her real name. He didn't like to call her Dierdre. He said she was really nice.

I used to be a heavy smoker myself but I don't sound like Deirdre. I think it's living with Ken that's done it. Is Ken the new Percy? ;)

It all started when teenage Tracey spent three years 'upstairs playin' 'er tapes', and came down quite a changed young lady.:D

Ya then she got wed and went away, came back and had morphed into the toxic one, don't know about deepening her voice, it must hav been enough to driver her to drink:D

Talking of the Toxic one, been reading this morning that Kate Ford, Suranne Jones and Sally Lindsay, could be on the way back to the Street, wonder how they're going to work out getting Toxic Tracey back, out for good behaviour maybe:eek:
