No,nothing to do with Gwok Wok or whatever he's called but a rather splendid Mike Leigh film to be aired on Film 4at 10.50pm on Wednesday 5th November.A rather disturbing adult drama that at the same time is quite morbidly funny.David Thewlis stars.Top viewing for those who have'nt seen it & a great many who already have.Ideal after a night of pyromania,superficial burns & sticky sweets.Enjoy & please post your reviews here:)

Great film, and a fantastic cast, although it's not my favourite Mike Leigh film, which would have to be Life is Sweet, or Secrets & Lies, or High Hopes.

I wish Film 4 would do a retrospective of all his film, instead of a lot of the American films they show.

In relation to the other thread it's interesting to note that both Abigail's Party, and Nuts in May, were commissioned by the B.B.C., for the much missed Play for Today, in the good old days when the Beeb used to support more new works.

Naked also stars Katrin Cartlidge, who appeared as Lucy Collins in Brookside, for those who never watch anything other than the B.B.C.:D

Yes, this is one of my favourite Leigh films, although not quite reaching the heights of Secrets and Lies. The American company, Criterion, have done a marvelous release of the film on DVD which is worth buying just for the extras.
