christmas tv
why do they never put anything decent on the telly over christmas?
all the films that where on on christmas day where all repeats...can't they be original for a change and put something on thats never been on before...yes its all well and good putting on Santa Clause The Movie, some people may say its a timeless classic, but the quality of the film that was on yesterday was sooooo poor has anyone actually watched anything decent on terrestrial telly over christmas? |

I'm sure they were very good at the time. Maybe they could put them on in the afternoon........but prime time Boxing Day telly? No. They should have something new to offer us Can they not make decent Christmas entertainment these days? Clearly not. On another note, I could have cried with disappointment last night after I'd watched this year's Christmas episode of The Royle family. My favourite show ever. After finishing it off so perfectly a couple of years ago with The Queen of Sheba they did another this year and it was absolute rubbish.......poor humour, very weak, no genius moments. They should have left it well alone. |
Re: christmas tv

Re: christmas tv
Could take a whole day of Morecambe and Wise, thought one of the other channels would have done it. Instead we have a whole day about polar bears.

We have just watched "Caught in a trap" starring Connie Fisher, the girl who got the part of Maria in the west end production of The Sound Of Music. Very entertaining.

I enjoyed that too. Loved the new Royle Family, and will serve Denise's Carrot Crunch, topped off by Barb's special recipe gravy, the next time I have people round...that I can't stand. Enjoyed last night's Affinity. Nothing says Christmas like a bit of Gothic girl on girl action. The rest of it has been a load of guff, so I've been watching old Bette Davis movies, which thankfully Santa stuffed in my stocking. |

Have you watched previous series, Garinda? Why was there no mention that Christmas Day would also be little David's 9th birthday? Why did David Senior talk about Nana like he'd never met her when surely he would have met her at Dave and Denise's wedding and baby David's christening? And most obvious of all.........in previous series Dave's dad has always been painted as a work-shy character on various benefits with a catalogue of ailments. This special was the first time we have actually seen him and he did not live up to the image previously painted at all. I'll have to stop now....I'm choking up here....they ruined it all.....sob sob. :( |

I agree, it wasn't up to the same standard as earlier series, but it still made me laugh, and was better than a lot of new stuff that is broadcast. Perhaps you didn't like it because it was the first time we's been outside of the Royle's living room and kitchen? As for Davy Babid's (hic) birthday, they'd probably forgotten about it. After all they didn't mind not seeing him opening his presents, as Anthony was going to send his doting parents a photo with his mobile phone. No, it wasn't perfect, and perhaps it should have been left well alone, but it still had me laughing out loud more than anything else on the telly this Christmas. The excruciating social nuances of the modern family were still very well observed, both by the writers, and the cast. |
