Re: Slumdog Millionaire

Danny Boyle, the director, is another Lancastrian exile resident here in the East End. He was in my local pub the other day and I couldn't help overhearing his conversation, which was all about a sequel to his Oscar winning triumph. I couldn't hear everything, but the gist of what he was saying was this:

The scene moves from India to England...to the south-west corner of a Lancashire Borough. I can't be sure of the name, but I'm sure the location began with an O and ended with an E and had about 13 letters in the name.

Anyway, the action takes place around a pub in the said location which gives the title of the film...."Black Dog Millionaire"

Danny was getting quite excited about this, until his mate pointed out that the plot was totally unrealistic as it was unlikely that anyone could be found in the said location intelligent enough to get beyond the first round of W.W.T.B.A.M. and anyway if they did, the audience wouldn't believe it unless of course, the plot involved said contestent being caught cheating, which would not result in a happy ending.

Danny agreed and him and his mate then supped up and left.
