Whitechapel
Whitechapel is on ITV1 at 9pm Monday it seems to be a modern day version of Jack The Ripper, quite looking forward to it
|
Re: Whitechapel
i'll be watching it (if i remember) i love anything about real life murders
|
Re: Whitechapel
I’ll be having a peep at it, saw the trailer last night. Looks interesting. :)

Re: Whitechapel
Yes, I think this looks juicy and gruesome, will watch it ... :D
Enjoyed the one before too 'Unforgiven' in three parts ... that was excellent. Find the main actor in this is a bit creepy ... googled as couldn't remember his name. Funny thing is if you put in 'Whitechapel ITV' seems to be a warning that 'this site may harm your computer'. Further warning from Google supposedly when you go in .... don't understand what that is all about .... |
Re: Whitechapel
Here's your answer Kate.
'Human error' shuts down Google - Times Online |
Re: Whitechapel
Thanks Caz for that ... thought it was going to be some sort of advert at first for this macabre thriller ...:D
|
Re: Whitechapel
It looked quite good on the clips last night, think I'll be having a look tomorrow.
|
Re: Whitechapel
Anyway, the name of the actor I find abhorrent is Phil Davis, now that Google is working ....sorry, but to me he is sooo ugly, and makes my skin crawl; won't stop me watching though.
|
Re: Whitechapel
He's a exellent actor though Kate. I like all the other stuff he;s done. Hope we get it over here.

Re: Whitechapel
HA Ha Ha, good one Kate. Whatched Ouadrophenia a couple of weeks ago, Phil Davis, was in that, with Mark Wingett from the Bill. Also Ray Winstone, and Sting. First time Ive ever seen it, Cashy & Wynonnie will be surprised.

He was brilliant in the Mike Leigh films 'Grown Ups', 'High Hopes', and 'Vera Drake'. It's on at the same time as 'Backstairs Billy', so will have to record one of them to watch later.:D |

 you've ONLY JUST watched Quadrophenia? i've lost count of how many times i've seen that film its a classic, i've seen it that many times i know most of the script off by heart |

It was made on a relative shoe string, and when I watched it the other week I noticed that although it's set in the sixties, the cinema in Brighton was showing the 1978 film Heaven Can Wait, and all the shoppers watching the mods 'n' rockers rioting were dressed in their seventies flares. Still didn't spoil it though, even seeing Toyah at her heaviest.:D |
Re: Whitechapel
Watched it as I said I would…bloody decent it was too, will certainly be watching the next two episodes.
|
Re: Whitechapel
I missed it..though I reckon it was some polish or recent immigrant that done it :D
|
Re: Whitechapel
Pointing at the expert on the Ripper at the moment who is giving the young detective the help .. but who knows.
Love this character of the boss detective (sorry didn't pick up the rank:D). Cleverly written ... him all tidy like; the others all smelly and messy. That Phil still doesn't do owt for me though ... he's little as well. |
Re: Whitechapel
thought it was a bag of crap. bet it really brassed the real plod off.
|
Re: Whitechapel
I wonder if one of the present day Queen's sons will be in the frame for it?
:D |

Re: Whitechapel
Not bad for a snowed in Monday night, but there was no good reason for all the inaccuracies - even allowing for artistic license. The first body was found by a PCSO.....on duty at 2am? This is total nonsense. I don't know about Lancashire’s finest, but the Met lot knock off no later than 11pm. There was no excuse for that.
Neither was there an excuse for starting the Ripper tour out by the Order of St John, in Clerkenwell - which is more than a mile to the west of the nearest murder . Most Ripper tours start by Tower Hill - I know, the half wits forking out their Euro's invariably block the tube exit. More than once I have had to shove 'em out the way. Still, that is what we have come to expect from our bad-mannered continental cousins. There is a pub called the Ten Bells, which in the Ripper's original escapades is where every one of his victims supposedly drank. We may see this pop up in the next episodes. Some time ago, it was renamed the Jack the Ripper; however, this did not go down to well with the local lesbians who were forever spoiling people's drinks by parading up and down outside the place protesting until the pub reverted to it's original name. Talking about lesbian romps, just round the corner from this establishment is a fruit and veg shop with an original Victorian/Edwardian exterior. I can't remember the name of it, but don't be surprised if that appears as well. That is owned by the lass from Accy...the one who wrote about oranges and other dodgy goings on in our home town. I can't just remember her name, either. |

I used to go out with someone who lived on Fournier Steet, and the sound of those Ripper tours, heard through the shutters, used to drive me mad...nearly as much as the call to prayer.:D |
Re: Whitechapel

The tours, though, are a total pain in the arse. They are the most popular of all the capital's guided tours and sometimes I have seen a hundred plus following their guide like demented sheep. Still, for the guide, at six or even ten quid a throw, thats not a bad little earner for a couple of hours work. The Ten Bells, by the way, bars the tour walks. |

'At its eastern end, Fournier Street finishes with the London Jamme Masjid' (Great Mosque) Fournier Street - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I used to sit in the bath and shout across the street that I wasn't coming to pray...just yet.:D My friend lived next door to Gilbert & George, and was the first to move into the street and start the gentrification of the sweat shops. |
Re: Whitechapel
did anyone watch it last night?
i have a hunch, i may be way off the mark with this one BUT i reckon its the big police boss who is murdering those women, Commander Anderson or whatever he's called, he has all the inside knowledge of when things are going to take place, he seemed really edgy last night AND its been said numerous times that he is trying to fast track DI Chandler, therefore trying to help him out like i said, just a hunch, we'll find out next week for sure :D |

I love Steve Pemberton, and I suspect it may be him, but dressed up as Tubbs, like he was in League of Gentlemen. A local Ripper, for local tarts. :D http://www.geocities.com/gwaddingham/char4.jpg |
Re: Whitechapel
they never proved the original was royalty, it was just assumed
he's a copycat killer, i still reckon its the copper |

There'll always be theories as to the identity of the original Ripper, but too much time has passed for anyone ever to know now. Happily I'm out of the frame, as it was a year or two before I moved there, so my alibi is watertight.:D I thought it was a bit far fetched last night, particularly the car chase, with the press driving the prime suspect round and about. |
Re: Whitechapel
far fetched is putting it mild. the dummies will never catch me.:D
|
Re: Whitechapel
i'm enjoying it though, its a shame it finishes next week :(
|
Re: Whitechapel
What an awful end to this mini series, couldn't believe it, after three weeks slogging they still couldn't catch the git and let him drown himself apparently, what utter tosh
|
Re: Whitechapel
my sentiments exactly Jay, i thought the ending was utter crap
