Thatcher Drama BBC

watched the downfall of Margret Thatcher on the BBC tonight..I was creased up laughing most of the way through this programme... funniest thing I've seen for along time.... I mean the likes of John Selwyn Gummer balling he's eyes out.. and Thatcher cracking up...great stuff...... if this was anywhere near the truth then it just showed Thatcher up as what many of us had realized long before she got booted... a mentally ill megalomaniac.....oh joy..:thankya:

I hope if you watched with a box of tissues by your side, they were only to wipe your eyes because you were 'creased up'.

Well I'm sorry I missed it. I didn't like the woman and I hated her politics but, none the less, she was a very influential politician and, so far, unique in being the only female Prime Minister this country has ever had. I think I would have found the programme interesting and, perhaps, informative.

You're totally right.

Her appointment as leader of a major political party, and then as P.M., was ground breaking, and it wasn't the liberal left that broke that new ground.

Mind you, after Teddy she did inject a dose of much needed testosterone into the Conservative ranks.

Presumably (not sure how it works) Over half the country voted for her. Now most of the country say they hate her. Makes me think some people arn't being quite so honest.

I am for her. always have been and she is on my very short list of people I would have liked to meet and talk to...along with Martin Luther King ... end of list. Well actually Felecitiy Kendal is on there but with not so much talk :)

Maggie Maggie Maggie!

K-P wants to tonk Felecitiy Kendal .. now that just about sums it up..maybe there is a argument that says only sane people should be allowed to vote.

Like you, it's simple.:D

It didn't need half the country, just the majority of the electorate who actually voted to secure victory.

On a more serious note, personally I disliked her policies and her public persona, so much so she'd make my skin crawl when I saw her on TV.

I did actually meet her in 2000, mentioned before, sorry to bore you.

Drinks, then upstairs in a private dining room at the Carlton Club. Twelve at the table, me sat directly opposite.

I was genuinely suprised. She came across as warm, and she asked lots of questions, which appeared to be because she was interested to learn something new.

Still hate Thatcherism, but don't mind admitting she wasn't the cold, callous fish I expected for my dinner that night.

It's only noteworthy because I was genuinely suprised.

Suprised that she was interested in other people's lives.

Like I said, didn't stop me disliking what she did politically.
