Filming in Accrington
1 Attachment(s)
Ever watch that wonderful house auction programme called HOMES UNDER THE HAMMER. They were in Accrington today, around the Christ Church area. Will be nice to see a local connection on TV in a few months time. The presenter Martin Roberts, can be seen at the far right of the photo.

Re: Filming in Accrington
If there's a house up for grabs round there, can't see it going for much. There's some woman who lives round that way who's forever going around taking photographs. Really lowers the tone of the place! ;) :D

About Martin & TV Info |
Re: Filming in Accrington
It's a good programme. It is interesting to see some of the transformations that are achieved with properties that, at first sight, seem past it.
|
Re: Filming in Accrington
it'll be years before we see the transformation, it always is on that programme
|
Re: Filming in Accrington
It's very satisfying to watch knackered old buildings transformed into something wonderful again. Whenever my wife is off work we tend to watch this over late breakfast, a cracking little programme.

Re: Filming in Accrington
Glad it was Martin who was here doing the program last time Lucy did a property on Nelson St. she didn't half slag Accy off something terrible:(

Re: Filming in Accrington
Accy Market Hall under the hammer?
|
Re: Filming in Accrington
If they come back in a few months time, they could show how to turn a thriving market hall into an empty shell......

Re: Filming in Accrington
Do you remember that idiot who bought the Regal Cinema-Bingo hall in Bacup for £181,000 and lost it all?

Re: Filming in Accrington
Re. filming in Accrington , Flashy has just put Nature of the Beast on the Link The Film Thread .
Does anyone know whether that film can be bought on video or DVD ? I've tried Amazon but it doesn't come up with the one filmed in Accrington and Ossy . |

I've had a quick glance through it and it looks like it was only made for Channel 4 , and all copies seem to have been chewed up or worn out . |
Re: Filming in Accrington
I still have 2 copies of it on DVD gathering dust if you want one JCB :)

Re: Filming in Accrington
The young chap who co-starred in the film lived opposite me and I was a drinking mate of his parents, Sue and Mark Dearden. Sue died but I haven't seen Mark for a few years now.

Filming in Accrington
Hi, it will probably be MONTHS before the Accrington Homes under the Hammer is shown, but as soon as I hear anything, I will let you all know. Should be rather an interesting one.

Where abouts is it? Looked similar to the early Victorian houses near St. Jame's church, although know it wasn't there. |

The update, where they revalue the house. after refurbishment, it said was done in March of this year. Should imagine it'll be on BBC-i player, for anyone who's missed it. |
Re: Filming in Accrington
Now available at
BBC iPlayer - Homes Under the Hammer: Series 14: Episode 116 Accrington looks very good indeed and it starts at 31.11 but the whole programme isn't bad to be fair |

Re: Filming in Accrington
We used to live at number 5, Christ Church Street, which is a double-fronted house with 4 huge bedrooms. It had all the original features - architraves, ceiling roses and covings, etc. The rear yard was small, but there was a large elevated garden across the back alley. It was a superb house and came with its own ghost!
