Courtesy of SKY showing free films on Pay for View this weekend I watched a new(ish) film starring Paul Giamatti this evening -Barney's Version. Was expecting something special after seeing Sideways, especially as he'd won the Golden Globe for this role.
Bit disappointed -the character he portays was very unlikeable and difficult to empathise with. Great minor roles by Minnie Driver and Dustin Hoffman. The film got better towards the end when you realise the truth about Barney, a few ends are tied up and there is some resolution and a bit more understanding of the character he plays. Not sure it was a winning role for him -but he likes a challenge and is a great actor.
