Donations..........I've finally succumbed.

It's been mentioned many times before and I've finally done it...

I've added a donate button to the site. The costs of running this place are high and I would also like it to have a professional re-design to make the whole thing look a lot nicer...

If you click on the donation button it will take you to paypal, who are a secure payment company. The money will never see my bank or a barmaids fine hands, as I use paypal money to pay my bills for accyweb!

Donate as much or as little as you like, and if you leave your username in one of the optional fields then I'll give you a custom title that appears under your name in every post - you get to choose what it says and you can edit it from your profile.

Now, I'll go and hang my head in shame at the local webmasters club for having to add my first ever paypal donate button to a website!

So what are you waiting for, hit the button and donate!! :) :) :)

No shame in this Roy....I've never considered that costs involved, needless to say I'm always happy to use the site so why not make a donation.

Is there a way round paying if you don't want to use a debit/credit card on-line? If you want to pay by either cash or cheque what do you do then?

You could always drop some dosh behind the bar in the Hope & Anchor, with the specific instruction that it is for Roy's Alchohol Dependancy Fund. :D

On a more serious note: I don't begrudge making a donation towards Accyweb's upkeep.
Thankyou for your efforts Royski.

Like it, but sorry the only AD Fund i would contribute to is my own. lol

Think donations towards the site is a good idea though.

Keep up the good work Roy and thanks.

As you all know myself & my assistant Mez have made a magnificent job of looking after the contributions to the Calm Room

http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=5254
& would therefore be honoured to look after any cash contribution to Accyweb that any of you may see fit.

I've just had a quick look through here, & we are way off thread really, just 'cos the moderators are having a night off (perhaps they are having their xmas party early to avoid the rush), It's time we continued this conversation elsewhere, ( they don't like to leave us two on our own for too long they seem to think we need supervision).

Three months have gone by since the previous posting and and I just wonder why the irrelevant and childish postings were not stopped and a reply made about contributions.

As a recent member I would like to contribute but no way will I give financial details on line to any organisation.

Let`s have an answer Roy.

Mick 02-03-2005 08:50

Re: I've finally succumbed....

Sorry THOTH but you are going to have to wait a bit longer as Roy is in Russia

But you can always come to 1 of the accyweb meetings and give it him yourself

mez 02-03-2005 09:02

Re: I've finally succumbed....

im the same as you THOTH i wont give details but i did give roy my donation personally, & i KNOW it goes into the fund for the running of the site.

WillowTheWhisp 02-03-2005 09:09

Re: I've finally succumbed....

I'm sure when he chose the PayPal donation option Roy chose the best way available of permitting AccyWeb members to contribute towards costs. Thousands of message boards use the same method.

I use PayPal on a regular basis for all sorts of things and have never had any trouble. Millions of people use it, but if you want to contribute but are still wary of clicking the button then the only way I can see is if you give your cash over to someone else who will use the button. That still means you have to be willing to trust them of course. As Mick says you can come along to an AccyWeb meeting and give it to one of the regulars, Mick is nearly always at those and he is a moderator.

The irrelevant childish postings as you call them are just a bit of friendly banter and anyone who knows Less and his calm room knows that he is the least likely of people for the moderators to have to delete from here. He's often been known to deflect the build up of tension between antagonists with his light hearted repartee and apart from that he's a vampire and none of them want to risk being bitten after midnight! (sorry)

Thanks Willow you don't know how much I appreciated you lying for me there, Anybody got a dry hankie i've come over all emotional!

To get back on thread, ('cos I'm a good boy really) From what I've heard Roy's been pleased with the response that he has had from members with whichever way they have contributed to the running of the site & any monies he gets for Accyweb is spent on improvements one way or another.

:D

Re: I've finally succumbed....

Like Willow, I have also used PayPal.

I also do as much banking as possible online, I pay my credit cards online, and last christmas, we did most of our shopping online.

As long as you use companies you've heard of, there are usually procedures in place if you do have problems.

All your points are noted Willow. However, let`s be consistent. I never want to see a complaint again about going off thread.

WillowTheWhisp 03-03-2005 08:26

Re: I've finally succumbed....

We all wander now and again are and often asked to get back on track but usually if left to our own devices the thread sort of meanders its way back and picks up the plot again of its own accord. Bit like normal conversation really.

Mick 03-03-2005 09:12

Re: I've finally succumbed....

As willow says we normally leave things to come back on there own unless someone REPORTS it

The very fact that you posted this reply in this thread proves that you too can be just as guilty as anyone else for going off thread.

Can we have a little less preach & alot more practice? THANK YOU!

Re: I've finally succumbed....

As a "new" old member I will make a donation asap! Paypal is a very popular site and I've used it many times and never had a problem. A lot of money is used to make sure its secure. I can't understand why so many people are still so reluctant to buy goods online - using secure internet sites is probably less risky than walking the streets with pockets full of cash!!!
