Another power question

How have I gone from having 3 power to having 5 power in the space of two days? I haven't posted that often and my karma's only gone up a bit in that time.

Just wondered.

I think its 1 power for every 50 karma = 3. 1 power for over 100 posts and 1 power for being on for 6 months

TOTAL 5

Ah, so I hit six months on more or less the same day that I hit over 150 karma, adding 2 power at the same time.

Yes, I'm wondering how to use my new found power. Should I use it for good or will I be drawn to the dark side.

My next challenge is to get to 1,000 posts so that I can get some more power. I might start saying hello to more people as they come on the site for the first time.

i am quite new on here, does this power, karma , ackers actually do anything?

Well you can save up your ackers to buy things with (especially if you have a pet) or you can just hoard them in the bank and offer them as prizes to anyone if you do a quiz post or question type thingummy. (You can also nick 'em off other people but I'm innocent of such behaviour.):)

The karma points relate to what people think of what you've said, so if they agree they give karma and if they disagree they take karma off you. Or sometimes if they are just peeved and in a nowty mood they take karma off you and give a silly reason for doing so. :rolleyes:

The more power you have the more karma you give or take each time. Giving is always highr than taking. (I think you take half as much as you give) - so if you see someone with a lot of karma it either means a lot of people agree with them or people with a lot of power agree with them. If you see people with not much karma it can either mean people disagree with them, or they haven't been here very long or said very much yet for people to agree or disagree with.;)

Of course none of it is real in the unltimate scheme of things but by saving my ackers I was able to buy a purple name (to replace the purple name I bought before the ackers revolution which had become green due to forces beyond my control.:p)

You can see karma additions and deductions in your user cp (button at top left). You will only know who has added or deducted if they leave their name as willow says

Some people have a go at working it out by looking at who is on the thread when their karma changes, but it isn't always an accurate method and we've had one or two wild conclusions being jumped to in the past.

Everyone knows when you give karma though Willow as no one else has as much power as you.
