Hello from Spain

Hi, this is the first time that I have used this site and I am not sure what I am doing. I'm trying to introduce myself, but I don't know whether I am on the right page. I'm hoping someone will tell me if I am doing it wrong!!

Right, the reason that I joined was because, although I am from from Cumbria, I worked for in Accrington for two years, I then came over to Spain to live. I had so much time on my hands that I decided to research my family history..... guess where thay came from???? Oswaldtwistle!! What a lost opportunity, I could have done my research when I was living there!!

On the 1861 Census it shows my g/g/grandfather (who was called Henry Fielding) living at 236 Busk, Oswaldtwistle. Does anyone know if this still exists, whether it was a tenement or a house. The family seem to come from a fairly impoverished background so I don't think it will have been in the 'posh end'.

Would love to hear from anyone, Diane

Hello and welcome Diane. I'm sure that some of our members will be able to help you out. If you put your family information in the lost friends and family forum, someone may be able to help you with Busk. Some of our more local history orientated members don't seem to reply on the introduction pages.:D

Thanks for answering. It is not Busk street I am looking for but BUSK on its own. It is unusual isn't it? I am on the Costa Del Sol but I miss England and northern people particularly. Diane

Hello Diane. Welcome to AccyWeb. Do put your request in the Lost Friends & Family forum because I'm sure there are people who would be able to give you more information if they see it in there.
