Hello Accringtonians

Have just moved here and am happy to find this site. Don't know a soul but hope that will change soon! am originally from South Wales and have come up here (via London and Kent) to start as a VERY mature student at UCLAN in Preston, studying Herbal Medicine. Since I will now be living on a student grant (no idea how .....) can anyone tell me if Accrington has a LETS scheme or something similar? will probably be needing some kind of part-time work as well if anyone knows of any jobs going.  By the way what's the Soul night at the Town Hall like? I love everything from Motown to Hip Hop so if it's a good night anyone fancy a bop?! [smiley=ello.gif]

Welcome to Accrington Alison. I am also a mature student at UCLAN in the Midwifery department. Work full time and study Part time Only been to one Soul night at the town hall, ages ago, but it was a real good night. May run into you on campus sometime, not going back til january though, doing a course at Harrogate this semester.  You'll recognise me at Uni, I'll be the one on the car park, itching all over ( doing a module on sexually transmitted infections this time round) Nice!! ;D

Soul night sounds good. Havent tried it myself.. I think my dancing days are over... Jeeze how depressing does that sound for a mid 40s soul fan :)

Welcome aboard Alison

Hi Alison - the Soul Nights at the Town Hall are very good.

They have different DJ's each time but a lot the same crowd go.

Pop down im sure you'll enjoy it.

Hi Lettie - thanks for the response. Nice to encounter another mature student - just hope my course isn't full of 19 year olds! I'll look out for you and your itch early next year - maybe I'll be able to reccomend a soothing herb or two ......  author=lettie link=board=new;num=1062432343;start=0#1 date=09/01/03 at 17:17:58]Welcome to Accrington Alison. Hi and thanks to all who replied to me - haven't quite got the hang of replying to replies though....hmmm...... when I get myself sorted with a computer I will have more time to do this but am currently using the local library - which I think is fantastic by the way - compared to where I've come from in deepest Kent.....
