New Member Intro

Hello to All - I've recently joined you & thought it would be polite to introduce myself & what I'm about, a little.

Currently reside in the Midlands & I'm a full time carer for my elderly mother, (an original Accrington lass).

I love music, architecture, 2nd hand books, maps, old photos, history & genealogy. In my spare time, the little I can manage to squeeze in, I've become rather involved in my own family history, as this doesn't have to take me too far from home, where I'm often needed. I've been a regular user of Accrington Library + others within the local area, & the Lancashire BMD website as well as the Lancashire Online Parish Records website. Marvellous what we can all now do remotely!

What brings me to your door; as I've a family history on my maternal side going back (so far) to the mid/early part of the 17C in the area's of Accrington, Oswaldtwistle, Church, Brierfield & Fence I'm naturally intrigued with the history, growth & development of these areas specifically. I've already spent many hours into the night looking through some of the historical bits & pieces you've got on this site. Very interesting - love some of the old photos you've managed to find & post too.

Let's try to help you - give us some names & perhaps addresses.Churches, schools atended, where worked? Look at the Lancashire Family History Society website. They have a brnch in Accy and a library/workroom/advice centre in Ossie. Join if only for one year. It will help you knock down a few walls.
