Hi, I'm new to Accrington Web
Hi everybody, I'm new but not from Accrington. So why am I here, 50% of my genes are from Accrington and whilst I've sorted out the family tree there are some items of interest I still need to investigate. Also I have some photos which I don't think have been seen on here (or elsewhere) which others may find interesting.

Re: Hi, I'm new to Accrington Web
Hi my name is frank and I attended hyndburn Park school from 1947 to 1951. The form I was in was A. My first form teacher was Miss Ruth Barker. I remember all the teachers. Mr Idris Davis (Diddy) Mr Aspden (Tashy) My Hill (Gilly) Mr Harrison, Miss Greenwood (my favourite) Miss Sally Iredale My least favourite. Mammy Howe, everyone loved her she taught history in a classroom in the junior school. Miss Johnson (Art) a lovely lady. Mr Nightingale (woodwork) Mrs Cooper Domestic science.
I remember the year I left, at christmas Mr Aspden organised a minstrel show. i was one of the four corner men with Rot Lockwood. One of the girls in our class Rita Ireland (Now Rita Foster) lives in Autrailia and I still correspond with her. Sadly one of our old school mates Doughie Anderton died recently. I still see brian Young from time to time at Aldi. Bernard Johnson is still around I hear. Does anyone remember the school trip to the Lake district. We stayed at a youth hostel in Newlands pass and hikes over Cat bells i dont knnow how many times. Great days. |
