Today a newbie tomorrow who knows
Hi
I am new! New here that is. I am not new to the world or other places that I have visited. I am interested in local news (well sort of local) - my family (some of them) live up in Huncoat - so it is sort of Accrington (I guess). So that is my introduction to Accrington Web. I hope to be able to contribute to this forum :hehetable |

Re: Today a newbie tomorrow who knows
welcome, I have lived in Huncoat for sixty four years, you are partly right in saying that Huncoat is now part of Accrington but the village is mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1086; there is no mention of Accrington.
If you want to give me a name or two of your relatives I could well know them, unless they are what we villagers class as newcomer's, ie have lived here for less then fifty year's or so;(tongue in cheek comment). Your's, Taddy. |

Welcome to forum OBI.No shame in having family in Huncoat. My dad was born in Church so we all have a cross to bear.

Re: Today a newbie tomorrow who knows
Huncoat became part of the borough of Accrington in 1927 or 28. Shall we start planning a centenary exhibition?
