Re: Talking Bottled Beer.
Oh yeah, and sometimes I'm allowed to take out the empties.........what a sad and sheltered life I lead.
|
Re: Talking Bottled Beer.
Get to your local offy and buy two or three bottles of ale/beer and try them tomorrow evening. I would suggest you start with the blondes? Pale ales like Taylor’s or maybe the summer ales that are increasingly popular today.

Re: Talking Bottled Beer.
I'm not fond of beer.......ssssh.......I will whisper this........sometimes when I take out the empties there is just a drop in the bottom ........and I have been know to test it.......but it doesn't taste nice.
I am sometimes allowed to have a whisky and sofa..........or a gin and chronic.......but I have to have been very very good! |
Re: Talking Bottled Beer.
Thwaites East Lancs Brown Ale knocks Newky into a cocked hat anyday, Poured into a half pint glass its superb. A dark rum chaser tops it off lovely.
Old Peculiar is always a favourite Fullers ESB is a nice session beer. As is HobGoblin. I prefer the stronger ales, Quality, not quantity so stuff like Gold label does satisfy me(with a Wood's 100 rum chaser :) )however I do like stuff around the 6-8% mark. It holds a much better 'condition' than the weaker stuff. Going back a few years though I used to love Big Ben and Old Dan from Thwaites, topping up a half of Mild.(A good pint of Thwaites Mild is superb, Mitchells Mild used to be awesome, shame they stopped brewing.) Amen to that entwisi. Hobgoblin, Humbug and the witches are all favourites. Gold Label is one from my past that was over done and I could never face another one.

Re: Talking Bottled Beer.
My favourite by far, Low 'C'! I used to drink it by the crate load and not an inch on my waist, I have been drinking Carling lager for a while now and can see the start of a little paunch so I'm dead set on reverting back to Low 'C' if only I knew what it had changed its name to  ?

I'll drink bitter but my fav lager is Becks,in a bottle or in a glass, when it comes to brewing beer the Germans take some beating!

Re: Talking Bottled Beer.
you cant beat ale freshly pulled from a cask!if the ale is sat in the cellar and allowed to mature right you are obviously getting a stronger drink than what it is supposed to be,you dont get that in bottles otherwise there would be bottles popping all over the place.Have you noticed that when you open a bottle its head goes very quick.tinkers once a year you can get resolution out of a cask at the same strength as the bottle and maybe stronger this is only brewed in january but its bloody good stuff.

Re: Talking Bottled Beer.
I can vouch for the ales seved at the Drunken Duck Inn between Ambleside & Coniston, in the Lake District.
The ale named Tag Lag, after one of their sheepdogs, is mighty damn fine out of a bottle; but as Staggers' says, they taste far better out of a cask. The rest of the Barngates Brewery's portfolio are equally tasty. Tag Lag is the only one that I have had the pleasure of from a bottle though.
