Re: housing....

Last time we looked the average rental was around £75 pw but conditions of properties vary a heck of a lot. You relly need to check them over individually because houses in the same area are not necessarily in the same condition.

There are a couple of estate agents in town who also rent properties he'd be as well checking these out at least there reputable. My daughter thought she was renting a "nice house" from a "decent" Landlord until she went to the doctors who said she had carbon monoxide poisoning!! The Landlord gave her 2 electric heaters for winter. 5 months & a lot of empty promises later she moved out

buy-the-house.co.uk, let houses but they are expensive, u talkin about £80-90 aweek plus £60 reference fee (which u DONT get back) plus a months deposit PLUS a months rent!!, better going with council or the housing associations, at least theres no expensive cash to pay out beforehand.

Re: housing....

So how much are they to buy then?

A 4 bed town house with garage in Tunbridge Wells will set you back around £415,000. It has huge rooms, 2 en suites and a study.

Rental Property seems to rage from £60.00 per week for a terraced house. To purchase the same would cost from £50,000. A three bedroomed detached to buy would be anything from £165,000. To 190.000.

Don't go for the detached house.

The terrace or the bungalow sound like better bets, and you don't even need a deposit these days as some lenders will lend in excess of the property value

I got a call today from someone who wants a mortgage on a flat in London - they have been given a discount from the council of £38k, and want a mortgage of £52k.

That sounds absolutely fine, except that it is in a high rise concrete construction block of flats.

I love my job sometimes...

Re: housing....

I always see renting as dead money. If you are only going to live in a town for a short period before moving on then it may be considered worth it. If you are looking to put down some long term roots then buying is your best bet. Many mortgage companies have very competetive rates now. Shop around for the best deal for you on a mortgage and don't just jump at the first company/bank to offer you one.:D

Or speak to an independent adviser who can shop around on your behalf
