norton

my norton internet security runs out in a few days and they keep reminding me that I need to renew it. I am on bt yahoo broadband with antispy etc . Do I need to pay them £30 odd pounds for security, although I must admit during the time (18 months) that I have had them I have had no problems.

Re: norton

Just remove you existing version from your system and reload it. Illegal I know but you paid for protection you shouldn’t have to pay twice. If it works you get 12 months of updates for the price of one. If it doesn’t work your back were you started all you’ve lost is an hour of your time.

Re: norton

There is no reason to pay for antivirus or firewall protection. AVG, Zone Alarm are just two products, I'm sure others here will post their favourites.

Re: norton

when norton expires uninstall it then run a free program that cleans the registry of un needed stuff

enter reg cleaner into google

it will remove any information norton put in the registry that shows your trial period has expired

then re-install norton and get the updates when asked to check for updates

Re: norton

I've never bothered with a rescue disc, If I was to get a messed up system I'd use Knoppix to get it back.
