Re: Travel Plans
Tinks, you have to list what your criterias are. Ok, don't need parking, so this facility with Travelodge not an advantage to you, but is it within walking distance to your destination? They don't always have any eating facilities and, much worse, no bar !! (take yer own) Sometimes affiliated to a pub chain/Little Chef, etc., nearby.
Stayed in lots of these and, although, 'a few' are a little outdated, usually comfortable and warm with tea making facilities, telly, continental breakfast (extra) phone ,etc., just have to look at the facilities of the one you were looking at, offers and the particular date. If there is a room available, book it NOW as they get booked up fairly quickly, don't dither. Most usually have a Dove shower cream that doubles up as a shampoo, but not all, so to be on the safe side, take a shampoo !! Best thing about these type of stay overs are nobody bugs you, you pay as you book in, so only need to drop key in reception with no long queues. At least with this type of hotel, you roughly know they have a national standard and what to expect. Enjoy your stay wherever you finish up ... xx Sorry to make this a long post, but, to digress, I am just now trying to book a hotel for 3 nights stay in Bournemouth for myself and a colleague (6 bookings.. refuse to share a room :D ) ... lots of them are becoming no smoking rooms throughout the hotel which I couldn't 'hack' or they are £ 140 plus room only .. bloody nightmare, never had this trouble before. Booked hotel for Glasgow for week before (now no smoking law there) and was easy peasy !! Still allow smoking rooms. |

Re: Travel Plans
Cheers kate. It's just somewhere to get my head down for the night. Going to Liverpool in the morning, book in somewhere, then go sight seeing til the evening, drink lots of beer then going to a gig at the academy in the evening. Back to where we are staying after the gig then back home next morning. The building work next door isn't a problem I'm hoping to be p*ssed by the time I get back and want to be away quite early in the morning.
The main criteria is that the travel lodge, lime st station and the academy are all in close proximity to each other. |

Re: Travel Plans
A gig?
A gig? I thought you were doing a Shirley Valentine. Have a good time. Who you going to see? Sightseeing- The Philharmonic Pub, across from the Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street, is near to where you are going, and worth a visit. Ladies are allowed to go in the men's bogs, as it is famous for it's Art Nouveau interior, supposedly the finest in the world.:D |
