bubbles in my fish tank help !!!
 

just got a new fish tank getting it ready for fish bought some aqua gravel cleaned every thing just in water no soap near anything put pump and heater on to get tank ready for fish.but i have bubbles on top of tank looks like soap but doesnt taste of soap.any ideas ?

try washing the gravel again, a new fish tank also needs a certain amout of bacteria in it for the fish to survive, its no good just putting them straight into clean water, if you know anyone else who has a tank take some dirty water out of there's and leave it at least 24 hours, the filter will sort out the dirtyness of it, then it should be fine to put the fish in :D

left gravel soaking over night then spent 1 hour just running it through clean water not going to put fish in till i no it is safe thanks for advise

i bought some gravel from aquascope last year for my goldfish, it took absolutely ages to swill it through, best bet is a hosepipe

leave your filter running at full power

that shoudl filter out whatever it is

if it is teh chlorine in teh water that usualy evaporates after 24 hours

if you want to be realy sure take a sample to barlows aquatics and they will do a test on your water for you

another good thing which you could buy today in great harwood is somthing calle dinstant aquarium , its a white powder that you put in to teh water of a new set up and it takes all teh crap out of teh water and puts bacterias in that the fish need

Have u added water conditioner to the water in tank??

I had sad news to wake up to this morning my beloved old babe fish died, so its been an emotional morning & the other 5 are ok & have had the tank water clean/change just as a precautionary as was cleaned recently.

U didnt get my text ?? ah well LOL!! it was my lovely old crouchy, could tell he hadn't long last night really put up a fight but kept lulling to the gravel, was worried about him but typical of his character tried to convince me he was alright by his sommersault up the tank to me then sadly died this morning, he knew he was going found a nice quiet spot under the filter & went in peace - thankfully, he had a good innings for a fishy:) Really heart breaking tho:( but the other fishys were really a comfort cos they ALL [usual just main 2 do but all did which was nice] snoggied my hand when i cleaned their tank awwwwwwww lil luvvys:D

Ahhh much more trickier tank then lol mine is cold water, do as the others suggested about the Ph levels in your water & let tank settle for a fortnight before getting some fish in so it was mentioned on another thread in hobbys section.
