They've just arrived now, and said it was chaos.

Re: weather??

Yesterday I did a favor for a sick friend of mine ... he needed someone to drive his taxi in order to pay his bills ... well, it's an almost new Impala, with good AC, so what the hell. I picked up a guy at the airport; he is a biologist at Queens U.; his speciality is the study of fragile lake environments in the Arctic and the high boreal. His studies of lake sediments have led him to draw some reasonable, yet scary info on global warming. The conversation got around to the weather in England and he told me that the heavy rainfall demonstrates the accuracy of predictions of the results of human activity on the precipitation rates in NW Europe. Just for the hell of it, I asked him how long the planet had before it became completely f**ked up. Ballpark figure, based on what he knows, and what he knows of related research: 30yrs. But he said that he would put his money on 20yrs. Interesting.

I dont believe that any of it is due to Global Warming. Things like this have happened before: Ice Age anyone??

There was also something in the Mid Ages a bit like what we are experiencing now, and you didn't see them Jetting around the world, driving round in Range Rovers and spraying deodorant before they went out!! :p

I'm not saying that CO2 omissions don't help it along a bit, but I think even if we all drove round in Toyota Prius's this would still be happening!!

Exactly thirty years ago was also a dreadful, wet summer, which followed the heatwave of 1976 the year before, just like we had last year.

I'll report back in 2037 if there is a thirty year pattern emerging here.:D

And don't forget that in 1483 the Duke of Buckingham's rebellion against Richard lll was stopped in its tracks by the flooding of the Severn after days of torrential rain. This, no doubt, can be seen as proof positive that global warming is a charming fantasy created by wild-eyed lefty granola eaters.

How ironic that you guys suffer with too much rain and we suffer from not enough! Thankfully I don't get a water bill as I have a well. Have the water going ~3hours/day between landscaping and garden.

Hope you guys get the sunshine and warmth very soon.

You guys should switch to metric ... the temps would go down immediately ... for example, today it is only 27 degrees here. And beware, I don't think the guys in Accy can handle "sunshine and warmth." Cold and damp is the way to go in Lancashire;)

I was surprised to note that the weather in southern Ontario has been almost bang on normal this summer. While the rest of the world is having weather that makes the international news, poor Ontario is boringly normal. Shazbat.

Yeah, thanks Eric, those lower Centigrade numbers make it downright chilly. Boy could I have a heck of a wacky weed crop with this type of weather . . . I mean, from what I hear about the higher potency of these types of vegetations with this kind of high heat and humidity!

Well, our heat wave has arrived and for the next little while, temps will be in the low 30s. But the humidity is not that bad, and if it gets too hot, time to head for the lake.

Aw, that's just cold (meaning mean) Eric. We've got the three Hs done here and no bloody lake to either jump in or fish in!:o

Went for long walk today. Took in Pendle Hill, which allowed great views from the top. Mostly overcast, but the cloud was high and didn't spoil the view.
