Ooo just posted on lindsay's thread, try witch hazel gel... helps calm the redness

Used tea bags...chilled of course......or thinly sliced tomatoes......you'll have to lie down and let someone place them gently on your burnt areas.....if you hear sizzling then you KNOW you are burnt.

cheers margaret I will add a few slices of bacon and maybe an egg or two....

I tell you what its flipping sore and getting hotter all the time:

If it's sore, you need cold, damp cloths spread on the burnt skin first of all. You need to cool it down so keep swapping the cloths and dipping them in cold water. When the heat has reduced, gently massage in Vaseline Intensive Care lotion, it moisturises your skin without being greasy and I've found it better than any after-sun cream (and a lot cheaper). Then a fan blowing on your back may help.

I always have a tan and I don't burn because I spend a lot of time outdoors (gardening), even when it's not so hot, with as much of me exposed as is decent. I always use sun cream and, if the sun is hot, I reapply it 2 or 3 times a day. I once burned badly (I was only 14) and I've never forgotten the pain!

Take some of the heat out of your back by standing under a tepid/cold shower....I'm afraid that is the best I can come up with.
Hope it cools down for you soon.

Re: stupid me

The tannin in the tea bags takes some of the pain out of sunburn....and tomatoes contain some natural chemical that is supposed to do the same.

We used to use Tea bags for patients with herpes....and it did seem to work.

I use Arnica gel on burns and scalds.

Oh you poor thing Magpie .. must be hell.:fire::evil::dflam:

As suggested cool compresses and calamine lotion does give some relief/drink plenty of water and also a general painkiller can help. Moisturising sounds good if not too painful. Don't pop any blisters !

Get down to your local chemist tomorrow .. they will know all about this .. particularly after this weekend. After that, just time I'm afraid.. another day and you will feel much better... X
