Re: travelling

Faroe Islands and the Falkland islands aswell (these both class as countries)
Maldives? Virgin Islands, Pitcairn Islands, Solomon Islands... the are alot of islands that class as countries... erm cant think of any more :p

Re: travelling

Netherlands!

Groups of islands can class as countries, but not all islands do. Think a country is defined by having its own official flag but dont quote me!

Re: travelling

Hang on a minute, doesn't plural mean consisting of, containing, or pertaining to more than one??

There is only one Wales (country) so therefore cannot have a plural.

Islands though (ie Falkland Islands) is a plural because there is more than one island, otherwise it would be Falkland Island.

Then the question would be the only country name ending in S. Not plural..... because it isn't.

Lol well obviously but seen as he classed wales as being plural it was obvious what he was asking for.

Maybe it is just that the plural and singular have the same form. Like sheep (no sheeps), deer (no deers), moose (how about mooses, or meese).

But there is only one Wales, therefore has no plural.

This is true. Unless one considers North Wales as being sort of separate from South Wales.;)

OK, I'm going to warn you in advance this is a boring start to my reply so work yourself up to it before reading. (Or just skip right past it if you prefer.) ;)

Wasn't the opening post a bit tongue in cheek? A bit of, well you know, humour?

That's how I read it anyway.

And now for my two pennorth of plural countries, how about Honduras, Philippines, Comoros and Laos?
