HBC recycling? ££££££???

I have asked this question before and nobody seems tro know the answer, so I will ask again...

Seen as the price of steel and aluminum are currently sky-high, paper, plastic and glass also command decent prices...

How much money has/does HBC recieved for scrap and other re-cycled products?:confused::confused:

You'd be better off emailng HBC directly with your question.

The bigwigs at the council, except for Graham Jones, just read accy Web, never reply.;)

They said that was made on savings and cuts, not monies generated.

Well cuts are certainly being made on the wages they pay the bin men now, it's always been known that it was really good money working on the bins but my nephew did a stint on them a few weeks ago but was only paid the national minimum wage.

That may explain why the ones who come round here put in the national minumum effort.

Good question.

In a bid to reduce the amount of refuse going to landfill the government has set all local authorities recycling targets. Here in Hyndburn we have to increase the amount of waste we recycle, we have a County Council agreed target to recycle 29% of all domestic waste by 2006/7.

There are many different reasons why we have to recycle and it is very much in the public eye and spotlight particulary with global issues such as climate change.

If you would like ot speak to someone about this, please call our Recycling Officer on 01254 399 988.

Maybe give them a ring.
