Heh Cyfr, you really have got the apple fanboy bug :D

so by your own admission

The phones crap
The data charges make it exhorbitant to run
Its not as fully featured as teh N95

Now to other failings

Ringtone volume is not up to spec of other phones,
No MMS
No video recording yet ( some guy is trying to hack a solution )

Did I mention no accelerometer (probably one of the most recent discoveries on the N95 and already subject to some cracking apps)

In fact lets cut to the chase, you've bought an interface with little substance. :D

No the camera isn't crap, I just don't use camera phones, in the same way I hardly ever used my cybershot camera phone :p

Data rates make ANY phone expensive. On the normal contract you get unlimited data but I chose not to go for that one as I don't want to pay that amount, since when I did have unlimited data when I had a N95 for a week, I didn't use it anywhere near enough to balance out the cost.

MMS - Personally never use, if you do then iphones not for you!
I never record videos, or if I do they're worthless ones that i've deleted the next day. :p

The iphone has an accelerometer! Has lots of games that use it too :]

Oh and ringing volume, well I can't comment as I had my old phone on silent 24/7

ps. Where are you on msn :p

Re: iphone ??

I'm at work mate, no msn access here anymore ( lost use of teh wifi LAN)

I can and do use my ancient N80 for loads of browsing. Data is now becoming accessible with some operators offering decent amounts for ~£5 /month.

I've seen some of those videos BTW, You tube is full of them :D

OK, forgot about the accelerometer but can you control a remote control car with it :D (Yes, some geek has made his N95 do it)

andrewb 18-12-2007 11:18

Re: iphone ??

Of course the N80 is good for browsing but it isn't a patch on the iphone in that aspect

I can control my mac? :p

Controlling itunes is fun :]

Re: iphone ??

Errr, I could do this 18 months ago on mine( Home media centre ). why do you reckon its not as good for browsing? The browser is superb, the high res screen makes full size websites easy. The 3G makes them download nice and snappy, I can even run remote desktop

I always thought you pick a camera with high megapixel if you want to blow up the pictures to a bigger size, which obviously people do when transferring their pics from phone to pc. 2 megapizel isn't too bad from phone to pc, but if you intend on blowing them up even bigger to print out then I would assume you'd want much better than 2 megapixel.

Optical zoom is whats necessary for quality pictures I was told, yet so many people put it down to just being the megapixels.

The main flaw with the phone is that its simply ugly as hell and its got too much screen which is inevitably going to get scratched or cracked and look like crap, then you add all the finger prints onto of the damage and you dont have a decent looking phone at all and you'll probably give it to your teenage child for their birthday so you have an excuse to get the phone you were advised to get in the first place that was actually cheaper.

Megapixel does not equal better picture, even with enlargements more pixels does not mean it will blow up better. Lenses(type, quality), size of sensor, type of sensor, and others all make a big difference. You only need to look at say a 8Meg Canon 20D DLSR vs a 9/10 Meg compact. I know where my money would be on quality of enlargements.

Optical zoom is the only real zoom, digital is just cropping the number of pixels you use and displaying it at full size. Ignore any digital zoom figure as its worthless

Ugly, nope, Even I'll give it that, its stylish to look at, whether it will be resilient to scratches etc I doubt it but out the box its nice to look at and hold.

I might be going mad but your talking about an actual camera now rather than a mobile phone arent you? I am not saying a camera needs to look pretty, i was saying the Iphone is an ugly phone. Phones dont tend to have high specs as far as the other details go, because they know buyers tend to think its the megapixel that makes the difference, my point, as a non-camera expert is that it simply just isn't the case.

Re: iphone ??

Err, I think your going mad :D

I quoted you were you simply stated 'camera' and TBH the same applies to cameras and to teh cameras on phones. Some phones are now realising that they need to put decent lenses etc on hence the Zeiss lenses etc on stuff like the N95 etc

The iPhone isn't ugly. Even the most anti iPhone (like me) agree its a looker.
