Tongue piercing....

Thinking about getting my tongue pierced and wondered if any of you lot have had this experience, and if you wouldn't mind answering some questions?....
How painful on a scale of 1-10 was it?
How long did it take to heal?
Was the aftercare difficult?
Did it make you dribble or anything for a while after?
What piercing studio did you have it done at?
Would you recomend having it done or not?
and exactly how useful are those vibrating tongue bars? :D

I have had my lip pierced twice and wouldn't mind having it done again-not as painful as people make out etc.....is this as true of the tongue?

TIA xXx

hi i havnt had it done myself but my daughters friend had it done at zodiac in blackburn. they peirced it with a large bar then she went back a week later to have a smaller bar put in and the large bar removed. she couldnt eat for 2 days and she talked abit funny lol.

Neil 14-01-2008 00:29

Re: Tongue piercing....

Is she still talking a bit funny? I have noticed that with people with pieced tongues.

Sod that
At least when your get you ear pierced you can shout Ouch to help with the pain a bit, have you tried saying Ouch with someone holding the end of your tongue with a pair of pliers :D

Alright, I know you just tried it - now try saying F in elll that hurt  :D

is it not annoying when you get food stuck in it....LOL

its annoying when people keep flicking their tongue and messing with it., personally i wouldnt have it done, whats the point in having a stud in the middle of your tongue, and it looks tatty:rolleyes:

You will find that ageing causes enough 'mutilation' of your body, without volunteering to add some when young :D
Not a good idea , methinks

I had my tounge done a few years ago and have only just taken it out, It didnt hurt much really the guy who did it said its the easiest place to pierce like piercing butter! it was a little uncomfortable after and your tounge does swell a bit you dont get food stuck in it!!

As long as you make sure you keep it clean theres not much after care needed, only thing that did me was i chipped my tooth because the small bar they put in after was too big they put a standard 15mm bar in and i needed a 12mm for that to fit snug. Once your used to it you cant tell its there and you wont talk funny when you get the small bar in. Just make sure you check the bar now and again to make sure the balls in the ends are tight cause they can work loose then you could swallow it!

I got mine done in preston where i live so couldnt recomend anywhere for you sorry.

I haven't had it done but know someone who did, she couldn't eat for several days and talked funny for a few weeks, dont think she kept it in for very long either.

i would imagine a tattoo hurt more than your tongue peirced even though i havnt had my tongue peirced but i had a tattoo done on my back of my first grandaughters name and it killed lol. :D

I wouldn't fancy it myself, I don't see the point....but whatever floats your boat Misskitty. :D

A colleague of mine had it done a few years back. The initial swelling was uncomfortable, she was dribbling and spitting for about 2 weeks and could only eat soup during this time.

When the swelling went down she was ok.

You right, it does hurt more than a piercing in your tongue, i have 2 done in my back, the first one i got done was black all black and it hurted like mad for 15 min, but thats it, after that it was fine and i wasnt dribbling lol

I've had mine done for 8 years. It didn't hurt at all (because they numb you your tongue) it swells up a bit but that went down in a week. The only problem I had was that I couldn't say my S's or C's, which wasn't good as I worked at Argos at the time, try saying "collection point C" it was hilarious!

Re: Tongue piercing....

How painful on a scale of 1-10 was it?
The actual piercing wasnt painful, the aftermath though was somewhat.. distressing lol
How long did it take to heal?
After I took it out? 4 Hours - Quickest healing part of the body..
Was the aftercare difficult?
If you're a massive eater, then yes, I could only eat soup for a week =(
Did it make you dribble or anything for a while after?
Only when eating
What piercing studio did you have it done at?
Zodiac in Blackburn, now closed down due to Mall refurbishment! But Ive heard Hex is good.
Would you recomend having it done or not?
I regret taking mine out sometimes
and exactly how useful are those vibrating tongue bars?
Oooohh you wouldnt begin to imagine ;)

I think it only looks cheap if you keep playing with it otherwise you cant see it i had mine in for years and some people didnt know i had it!

They didnt numb it when i had it done but i suppose everyones different and can handle pain different so you cant really go on what other people say. xx

Re: Tongue piercing....

I had my tongue and my belly button done on the same day.

I would say the belly button hurt more than the tongue, but that cos they had to go through my belly button cos I don't have the flappy bit of skin that they usually pierce.

It didn't hurt at all having it pierced, as someone has said, they numb it first so you don't feel it.

It is the most annoying piercing I have ever had done. After 3 days of not being able to eat anything but soup ( I only like oxtail) and mushy weetabix I took it out. I was absolutely starving. I actually took the piercing out in the bridge pub, ran to the kebab shop, ordered shed loads of food, taxi home and stuffed my food so fast I ended up with hiccups for 5 hours afterwards.
The bar they first put in is huge, and it is hard to talk or swallow anything.
I wouldn't say it is painful, just bloody annoying.

I have had my ears done, belly button, bottom lip and tongue and I would say the tongue was the hardest one to cope with.

I want the little flappy bit in my ear done next. :D

Hope this helped kitty

LOL, I actually don't blame you! It's something I would suggest careful thought about ...... and if you have it done, make sure you feed yourself up for 2 weeks before, cos it's a long time to not be able to eat.
Saying that, once it is taken out, it heals in no time at all, and all services are back to normal :D

I had my lip stud in for 7 weeks, one night it fell out and I couldn't find the ball. By the time I got to zodiac and home it had healed inside. I had to put ice on the back of my lip and force the bar through...... wow that made my eyes water. About 2 weeks later it happened again and it healed up, so I left the ****** out:D My holes heal really quickly :D:D

It shouldn't have fallen out....maybe the ball was the wrong one for the labret/hoop?I had mine in for a couple of years (each one).

I thing the ball had just come loose from the bar and it fell out. I would have it done again though, just not the tongue one lol.

I have tons of piercings - lip, nose, septum, earl, scaffolding, I used to have another in my nose and one on my chest - in the skin between my boobies :P

Never fancied getting my tongue done, I dont like the thought of it banging on my teeth - it ruins the enamel :(

It wont hurt as they numb it but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not go to Zodiac - they are useless at piercing - and there aftercare sucks, I know so many people who have had piercings there and go wrong

Hex are good for piercings - Jason has been piercing for nearly 20 years

As above - Earl is the bit of skin at the top of the nose between your eyes and scaffolding is a long bar that goes from one side of the top of the ear to the other;)
