Re: Hairdresser
I highly recomend the one on Peel street (opposite Llloyds tsb bank)........it is very basic but also extremely cheap....i dont have alot of money at the moment as im saving for a few things, so i went and had my hair done there-about 3 inches chopped off all round and a few layers trimmed.......wait for it.........£4!!
Jacks hair costs £5 to get shaved (no style) alone at other places. |
Re: Hairdresser
there is a girl inside market, she cuts your hair for a fiver and has discounts for oaps she is really nice, i always go there, she is cheap as chips

The newish one in Ossy is £15 for a wash and cut, its called SJP's or something like that, looks like a barber shop in the front but they do ladies in the back. Boyfriends mum gets hers done their now too so its good for the more mature woman too. Not too sure what they're like for the elderly though... |

Re: Hairdresser
My comment was just an afterthought, not implied at you margaret. You see, the woman who does the ladies hair styling is around 25/26 with funky short uneven hair with flashes of colour in it, and so I am struggling to see her doing perms and blue rinses you see!
Older ladies seem to go to the one across the road from there but I cant think what it's called! In fact that one seems exclusively for the more mature woman, or even Bentleys in Oswaldtwistle, they have great prices for students so I imagine they're just as low for the OAP's. I only get my hair cut in Oswaldtwistle or Lancaster so I'm pretty useless for Accrington! |
Re: Hairdresser
I understand Blazey
I recall making a similar comment when I was just 16. I was in my first job, and a fellow worker who was in her late 30s announced that she was emigrating to Australia. I said 'I would do that if I was as old as you'. I was genuinely in awe that she was taking such a major step in her life, and I was too young and immature to consider doing it. The look on her face was of supressed fury, which I didn't understand at the time. I haven't joined the blue rinse brigade yet :D I still haven't had a haircut. The weather is too cold for me to venture out. I went to Fleetwood on the one warm day we had last week, but now am back in hibernation. I arranged for a mobile hairdresser to visit me Monday but she went down with winter vomiting virus. I hope she will come and cut later this week. If she doesn't I now know of several salons where I can walk in without an appoinment on the next warm day. I prefer to use my own hair toiletries which are petrochemical free. So I visit a hairdresser with my hair still wet from washing and just ask for a cut only. My hair has a lot of natural curl so I dont need a set or blow dry if it is well cut. Going out with wet hair when the temperature is below freezing might well result in one of those newfangled spiky hairdo's - which, you quite rightly say, wouldn't look appropriate for the 'elderly' :D |
