Re: Toilets
They are made that way to stop you puttng in them blue thingy's, they rot the valve on the end of the syphon plunger.
Its probably cheaper to replace the whole unit these days than to fit a new syphon. Retlaw. Quote:

Re: Toilets
If you can't get hold of the plumber who fit it let me know i will have a look at it but it sounds Spanish to me.

If the blue flush can't be inserted..use bleach. Flush toilets are a luxury.... Haslingden 1947 ..Tippler...Takes a hell of a long time to drop. Malaya 1958...foot pads with a hole in the ground. Malaya 1959...multiple personnel toilets...mind you don't get your goolies trapped when the buckets are emptied without warning. Malaya 1960....Hole in the ground...a retaining pole to swing and bite on to but ensure that one of your so called friends has not sawn through the pole first. Church 1962....Outside toilet...100 yards from farmhouse...newspaper on a string...wood board...scrubbed every week...over a dustbin...my job to empty it every week. Blackburn 1964....Outside toilets....bloody freezing. Don't talk to me about toilets........You don't know your born. Happy days. |
Re: Toilets
Never said there was anything wrong with Rocca but they are different and some designs are a pain. But as i spent a year in Benidorm mending the things i may be of some help.

Re: Toilets
That takes me back, Royboy, the tippler. I can remember my mum, when I was very small, instructing me to run the cold tap for a few minutes after going to the loo. :D
When we had an inside lavatory installed in the bathroom it was like the height of luxury. No more going outside (all of 6 feet from the back door) with the risk of huge spiders (my brothers always told me there would be one and it would be lurking just under the rim, waiting to jump on to my bum) and the very real peril of daddy-long-legs in August - how do you answer Nature's call while screaming and trying to swat the hideous thing with a piece of Izal loo roll? It's impossible. My present loo is at least 20 years old and needs replacing (as does the rest of the bathroom suite). I used to use those blue things (the lid lifts off mine very easily) but now I just plonk a bit of Domestos in the pan every night. I stopped using the loo-bloos when I realised they were leaving a slimy deposit at the bottom of the cistern. |

Sorry for asking advice from fellow accywebbers, didnt realise it would cause such offense or such an issue. I may only be young but I am well aware what its like to have to use outside toilets / buckets / holes in the ground etc. Was only asking a simple question as to whethere there was a fault with my lav or not |

Please don't be offended it wasn't supposed to come across like that. |
Re: Toilets
Thought you were then,
I aint that posh, ive p'd behind a bush many a time :D but just couldnt figure this loo out. My old house had push button loo and could lift the lid on that, I just found it strange that you cant with this one, and given how "dodgy" some of the work has been done I just wanted to check before making a prat of myself ringing hyndburn homes lol |
Re: Toilets
You just have a short flush loo or close coupled loo em, does it have 2 small half buttons to make up a full button?
|
Re: Toilets
We have had one of these toilets fitted for the last six or seven years, and have never had any problems with it.
It is better to have the long and short flush...uses less water that way. I don't bother with the blue loo things....I prefer my water to be the colour of water:D |
Re: Toilets
Its short flush= No 1 and big flush= No 2. If thats what you have (which sounds like it to me) then you cant take the lid off willy nilly the internal mechanisam is connected directly to the buttons. If the buttons are sticking give it a few flushes before you call them out they can soon sort that.
You just wont be able to use the loo blu! |
